I've heard it said that the only constant thing in
life is change. At this time of year, as the summer days are reaching their
end, the morning air is just beginning to turn crisp and sweaters are becoming
necessary in the late afternoon. Soon,
as autumn continues to blow its way further into the North Bay, the days will
shorten and the leaves on the trees will change from green to gold. Pumpkin patches will emerge amid the drying
cornstalks on the outskirts of town, ready and waiting for children to
excitedly hunt for the perfect pumpkin to carve. Thanksgiving will arrive with scents of
cinnamon and freshly baked apple pies. Then,
fall will give way to winter and the earth will rest as it prepares for the
coming spring. I love the earth’s
shifting seasons, but for many of us, change is an uncomfortable feeling.
Our world is continually changing. Political leaders come and go, new governments
emerge and some fade. Society changes
the way it thinks, sometimes for the better, and sometimes not. The fashions of today will be outdated
tomorrow. Our children grow up,
relationships change and people move on.
And, as the days turn into years, our bodies continually transform
bringing new challenges as we age. But
in the midst of our ever-changing world we can breathe a sigh of relief, for
our God is a never-changing God. We can
count on Him to be ever faithful, ever strong, “For I am the Lord, I do not change” (Malachi 3:6).
As humans, we thrive in stable environments. So what do we do when our world is changing
all around us? We depend on the One who
is always steady. God is the Rock upon
which to stand. It is so comforting to
remember that no matter what changes there are around us, God is unwavering. We can count on Him. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8).
His power, love and mercy never changes
and never ends.
Living for Him,
Joan

Loved this. i have a tapestry throw which I ordered from Christianbook.com. It says: "Seasons change. God never does." I love that throw - a constant reminder for me.

Oh how I wait in anticipation for how the season will start changing; fall is my favorite time of year! And it
ReplyDeletealways reminds me that as the seasons turn, there is no way for us to get
around change either; life itself is a process of change and growth and we must embrace it and look at all the positive possibilities that exist!
Blessings and love Joan!

I love little reminders like that to have around the house! I am so thankful for God's steadfastness!
ReplyDeleteFall is my favorite time of year, too! I love the colors in the trees and the crisp, cool air! Somehow, this time of year energizes me! And, knowing that God made it all happen and He never changes, encourages me as I step into a new season! =)
ReplyDeleteChange seems to be a constant. But it is a way to learn to trust the Lord in all things. We cannot control most and it's a lesson.
ReplyDeleteBtw, I love how you've been changing your blog. It looks great.
Blessings and love,
Debbie

It is so good to know that as the world changes all around us, God is the one in control! He is a true constant and we can trust Him! Thanks for the feedback on my blog's new look! Blessings Debbie!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angel. We can count on God no matter what is happening in our life. He is the same yesterday, today and always!
ReplyDeleteI think what is also a great comfort is knowing that God sees the entire picture. What may seem confusing for us at this moment in time, is clear to our Heavenly Father. And because of that, and remembering that He is constant, we can feel inner peace when we place our trust in Him!
ReplyDeleteBoy, oh, boy! Am I ever glad that we can count on God to not change! Thanks for sharing this, Joan! Great timing with so many changes taking place with our weather, country, and even our world! Blessings, friend!

I am so glad as well! In our ever-changing world, our God remains the same!
ReplyDeleteI love how when everything feels like it is changing around us, we have our Lord, who will never change. One of my favourite verses “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever” (Hebrews 13:8) what a comfort that is. :)
