Sharing His Beauty Blog Link Up

Happy Monday, Everyone!  This past week has been beautiful where I live...too beautiful, in fact!  LOL  We've been having unseasonably warm and dry weather here in California which has enabled us to get outside and enjoy God's creation as if it were spring.  On Saturday, it was a perfect day for a picnic.  So, my husband and I took a drive to a beautiful hilly location near us which overlooks the sea.  It was such a gift to spend that time together and listen to the pounding of the waves against the rocks below us, the sun on our shoulders.

In His Hands

I’ve made my share of mistakes in life. In fact, I’ve blundered through quite a bit over the years. I’m not a perfect person. And, if I’m being totally honest, I’ve been pretty messy at times! But I have a longing inside me that is growing stronger each day. It’s a longing to do something worthwhile for God - I want to teach. I want to share. I want to encourage.

I wonder to myself, “How can God use me?” I’m just a simple woman living a simple life in a far from simple world. I’ve never been to seminary and I don’t have a college degree. There aren’t any fancy titles or capital letters following my name and I don’t have any certificates framed on my wall. I feel ill-equipped to follow the dream that is forming in my heart. But what I do have is faith in a great, great God!

If you were to ask me why I believe in Jesus Christ or why I have faith at all, I wouldn’t be able to tell you from the viewpoint of a theologian. But, I would be able to tell you from the perspective of an ordinary woman.

Taking Stock
and Sharing His Beauty Blog Link Up

During this past week, my husband and I took a little get away to Yosemite National Park. We love it there and can safely say it is one of our favorite places to visit. I am always awed by the beauty and grandeur of this great valley. No matter what season of the year, God’s majesty is hard to miss! The sheer granite cliffs that surround the valley always take my breath away as I tilt my head back to take in the view.

On our visit this week, we experienced beautiful days, chilly mornings, peaceful evenings by the fire and unparalleled views of incredible waterfalls and rock formations as well as enjoying the natural beauty of the animals of the park. There were birds and deer and even coyotes that came surprisingly near. (The bears, I think, were sleeping cozily in their dens!) However, one of the most beautiful things that we experienced during our visit was the cozy afternoon my husband and I spent sitting in the Great Lounge of the Ahwahnee.

Joyful Expectancy

A few weeks ago, one of our pastors gave an inspirational message on waiting. He brought up the fact that many, if not all of us, do not like to wait. It can be frustrating, annoying and even distressing to not see the immediate fulfillment of what we are waiting for. We live in an instant-gratification society and, I think, have lost the knack of waiting properly. I have often described my own seasons of waiting as times of “spinning my wheels” or of “treading water”, times in life when everything seemed to be “on hold”. However, waiting is not supposed to be a time of inactivity. When we wait for God to answer our prayers for one thing or another, we shouldn’t shut the rest of our lives off and become stagnant. Waiting can actually be a time of great growth when we are spiritually attuned to God’s activity.
